The Sansevero Chapel joins the “Adopt a Mother” project
The Sansevero Chapel Museum is working to help the Matres Matutae of the Museo Campano di Capua. We have joined the “Adopt a Mother” project, making our contribution to protect and promote the Matres. These are sculptures in the local tuff stone depicting seated women with one or more children wrapped in swaddling bands on their laps thought to date from between the fourth and second centuries BCE. They are housed in the archaeological sector of the historic Palazzo Antignano.
